There are two basic types of messages you will see in mobile deposit: Errors and warnings.
The first type is an actual error message that indicates the deposit attempt has failed. This message will have a red circle with an "x" in it at the top of the screen. Below the red circle will be a message explaining the cause of the error. Common errors are that you have exceeded you deposit limits (see the FAQ titled "What are the deposit limits for Mobile Deposit") or you attempted to deposit a check that has already been deposited.
You may also see an error that simply indicates the deposit failed, but does not give any other information except maybe an "E35" error code. This message is caused because the system could not interpret the image as a check. If you get this error, then it was likely caused because the picture was not in focus, was taken in low light, or was taken at an angle. In this situation you can make another attempt to deposit the check (see the FAQ titled "Tips for taking a good picture of your check").
The second type of message is actually just a warning. If you get a warning message, you may still be able to continue with your deposit. On a warning message, you will see a yellow circle with a question mark in it at the top of the screen. The message below the question mark tells you the problems the system detected. What it is asking you to do at this point is to verify certain things about the check. For instance, maybe it could not detect a signature on the back of the check, so it wants you to double-check to make sure you signed the back.
If you verify the check and find a problem you need to correct, click the "cancel" button, make the correction, and start over. However, in many cases the check is actually fine, but just couldn't be read properly by the system. In these cases you really don't need to change anything. If the check is actually fine, you can click the "continue" button to tell the system to accept the check as-is and continue with the deposit. You should get a confirmation message that the check deposit has been completed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Even if the check is initially accepted by the app and you are given credit, EECU reviews all deposited checks and could choose to later reject it. Sometimes the system accepts a check, but when we view the image, the check details are not clearly readable, so we reject the image. We may also reject it if the amount on the check does not match the amount you entered. Typically checks are reviewed within one business day of being deposited, but it is recommended that you retain you deposited checks for 60 days.
